Every Child has the right to quality care. Quality care means a safe and caring environment for each child to grow and reach their full potential. We work with families to prevent family breakdown and with communities, state to provide a loving and supporting family environment for children who need care and protection.
DAAKO provides health promotion and awareness campaigns in schools and social centres have given children and caregivers the basic tools in terms of Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, nutrition, family planning and general health care that can empower the families to successfully care for the children and their caregivers for better health and development. Women and girls in Kenya continue to die as aresult of health complications during pregnancy, child birth or in the six weeks following delivery. In addition, almost one-quarter of young women aged 15-19 years old are either pregnant or already mothers.
As a result, we concentrate on ensuring that adolescent boys and girls have access to quality information on sexual reproductive health and HIV. We also provide teenage mothers with information to help them return to school, or access vocational training, and encourage them to form support groups. Meanwhile, we also focus on partnering with communities to promote quality maternal health care such as ensuring skilled birth attendance.
